Following its renewal, RouteShare uses Japanese-language maps. There is no schedule yet for map localization.

Community Policy

Guided by the idea of “making geographic information more open,” RouteShare aims to be a community where all kinds of people can freely share routes, places, regions, and towns. So that everyone can use this service casually, safely, and enjoyably, we have established the following community policy.

Before You Post

We developed RouteShare so that travelers, riders, cyclists, drivers, and people who love their hometown can share the charm of their region and roads, making communities safer, more enjoyable, and richer. We want this to be a place where your valuable experiences and knowledge are shared and where rich connections are born. Whether major or minor, your own experiences and information are extremely helpful to others. Please publish and post with responsibility, imagination, and humor.

The Internet Is an Extension of Real Society

Do not slander or speak ill of the records that other members have published or posted. Also, do not make posts that make others uncomfortable. While you may act under a pseudonym on RouteShare, this anonymity does not exempt you from responsibility for what you say. Just as in real society, act with respect for others. Some people may share incorrect information, and there may be times when this needs to be pointed out. In such cases, do not react reflexively; take a breath, confirm the basis and whether it is truly mistaken, and then point it out.

Be Careful with Personal Information

RouteShare handles geographic information, which can be directly tied to privacy. Please check whether your posted content contains your own or another person’s address or location. In particular, when importing a Google Maps Timeline or a GPX file, a route may begin at your home. Before posting, take a look at the map and check that no personal information or location is included.

Also, if you post photos of people you met or saw while traveling, get permission from those who appear in them. Please refrain from posting personal information such as names or contact details.

Check in Advance Before Posting Copyrighted Material

Creative photos and text are protected by copyright. If you wish to publish or post them, obtain permission from the copyright holder in advance.

For other matters regarding the use of RouteShare, please review the Terms of Use.

Other Minimum Rules

  • Do not post information that identifies a specific person, such as an email address or home address, without that person’s consent. (Information already made public is excluded.)
  • Do not post adult images or content related to adult-entertainment establishments.
  • Do not use copyrighted works (text, images, illustrations, etc.) that you do not hold the rights to without permission.
  • Do not post harmful programs, scripts, or the like.
  • Do not post anything that infringes on the rights or privacy of others.
  • Do not post anything that slanders or defames others.
  • Do not post anything that violates laws or public order and morals.
  • Do not post for commercial purposes, or post offers of personal sale or transfer.
  • Do not post anything that interferes with the RouteShare service.
  • Do not post anything from which it cannot be discerned that you actually went, saw, or used something.
  • Do not post anything that appears to interfere with the business of a facility.
  • Do not post directly on behalf of a facility’s operator.

Even if a post does not fall under or resemble the above, we may have no choice but to delete content that we judge cannot be published for the purposes of operating and managing RouteShare. We ask for your understanding in advance.

Depending on the situation, we may also judge a post to fall under “any other act that we deem inappropriate” in Article 7 (Prohibited Acts) of the Terms of Use, and suspend your use of the service.
