RouteShare (hereinafter “the Service”) complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003; hereinafter the “Personal Information Protection Act”) and other laws and regulations related to the protection of personal information (collectively, the “Related Laws”), and ensures the appropriate handling of personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

In order to achieve the purposes set out in “2. Purposes of Use of Personal Information” below, the Service may acquire the personal information (personal information as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act and the information defined in 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 below) of users of the Service (hereinafter “Users”) on the user registration screen and other screens. When doing so, the Service acquires such information appropriately, without using deception or other wrongful means. The Service may also acquire personal information by various means as necessary for its operations, including by telephone, email, fax, and otherwise.

In principle, the provision of personal information by a User is carried out at the User’s discretion. If such information is not provided, the User may be unable to use services or functions of the Service that presuppose the provision of personal information, and may incur disadvantages such as being unable to receive information about campaigns and the like from the Service.

In addition, Users may at any time change their contact details, their preferences regarding the receipt of email newsletters, and the like, in accordance with the methods separately specified by the Service.

In addition to the information described in the terms of use corresponding to the Service, the information acquired includes the following.

1-1. Information the Service Acquires from Users

• Name, gender, age, date of birth, telephone number, address, email address, and other information that can identify a specific individual
• Attribute information regarding hobbies, interests, family structure, and the like
• Name, email address, ID information, nickname, friend lists and other social information, gender, date of birth, images, and other registration information that, with the User’s consent and through the linkage of the Service with a service operated by a third party that the User uses, is provided from or displayed on that third party’s service

1-2. Information the Service Acquires in Connection with Use of the Service

• The User’s ID, password, and nickname
• Bank account information, credit card information, electronic money, and other payment-related information
• Location information
• Information about the device used, OS information, browser information, connection information, and telecommunications carrier information
• Referrer, IP address, and other access-log information
• Advertising identifiers
• History information regarding products and services selected or searched, URLs viewed, and the dates and times of viewing
• Information regarding campaigns the User has used
• Information regarding videos, photos, text, comments, and the like that the User has provided to or posted on the Service
• Information about content created by the User

1-3. Information the Service Receives from Third Parties

The Service may acquire personal information about Users (including personally related information as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act) from third parties (including but not limited to DMP operators). The Service may link such information with the User’s personal information that it holds, for purposes such as analyzing usage of the Service and delivering advertisements and verifying advertising results.

In addition, within the scope of “2. Purposes of Use of Personal Information,” and to the extent necessary and permitted by law, the Service may acquire publicly available information about Users, or request third parties to acquire information about Users.

2. Purposes of Use of Personal Information

When acquiring personal information, the Service specifies the purposes of use in advance and, except where permitted under the Related Laws, will not use such personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve those purposes without the consent of the individual concerned.

In addition to the purposes of use specified at the time of acquiring individual personal information and the purposes described in each set of terms of use corresponding to the Service, the Service uses Users’ personal information (including using it after processing it so that individuals cannot be identified) for the following purposes and purposes related thereto.

• To provide the Service to Users.
• For communications necessary in connection with the use of the Service, such as notices of changes to service content.
• For billing related to the Service.
• To avoid having Users re-enter, within the Service, the same personal information they have already entered.
• To respond to inquiries from Users.

• To resolve troubles relating to the operation of the Service.

3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Service provides personal information to third parties (which may include third parties located in foreign countries) in the following cases.

• When providing it to payment-processing agents or other third parties for purposes such as providing the Service, processing payments, and responding to inquiries.
• When a User receives products or services from a third party through the Service, providing it to that third party to the extent necessary to receive those products or services (such as for the third party to contact the User or to conclude a contract between the third party and the User).
• When provision is requested by public agencies such as courts and administrative agencies based on laws and regulations, providing it to such courts, administrative agencies, and other public agencies.
• For purposes such as analyzing usage of the Service, delivering advertisements and verifying advertising results, and developing new services, providing it to third parties that perform work related to such analysis, advertising delivery, verification of advertising results, and development of new services. Such third parties may link the personal information provided by the Service with personal information they manage themselves (including personally related information as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act).
• For academic research activities, providing it to academic research institutions such as universities, or to national or local government bodies (including private organizations with similar purposes).
• In other cases where laws and regulations provide that information may be provided to third parties without obtaining the consent of the individual.

4. Transfer of Personal Information Overseas

The Service may provide personal information acquired from Users to third parties located in foreign countries. As a result, such personal information may be stored overseas. In such cases, the Service will ascertain the system for protecting personal information in the relevant foreign country, and will take reasonable measures to ensure that the use of personal information conforms to the applicable laws and regulations.

5. Implementation of Security Management Measures

Specifically, in accordance with the Related Laws, the Service implements organizational, personnel, physical, and technical security management measures as necessary for User information, including personal information handled by the Service, to prevent unauthorized access to User information and the loss, destruction, alteration, leakage, and the like of User information. At the same time, should such an incident occur, the Service will respond promptly and appropriately and make every effort to correct it, including preventing secondary damage and recurrence.

6. Anonymously Processed Information and Pseudonymously Processed Information

6-1. Anonymously Processed Information

The Service may process personal information into anonymously processed information (“anonymously processed information” as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act) and use it. In creating and using anonymously processed information, the Service complies with the Related Laws, creates the anonymously processed information based on appropriate procedures such as deleting data items contained in the personal information or replacing them with random character strings, publishes the categories of information contained in the created anonymously processed information, and takes appropriate security management measures.

When using anonymously processed information, the Service may use it for various purposes beyond the purpose of use at the time of acquisition, and may provide it to third parties. When providing anonymously processed information to third parties, the Service publishes the categories of information contained in the anonymously processed information provided and the method of provision.

6-2. Pseudonymously Processed Information

The Service may process personal information into pseudonymously processed information (“pseudonymously processed information” as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act) and use it. In creating and using pseudonymously processed information, the Service complies with the Related Laws, creates the pseudonymously processed information based on appropriate procedures such as deleting data items contained in the personal information or replacing them with random character strings, and takes appropriate security management measures.

When using pseudonymously processed information, the Service uses it within the scope of the purposes of use published through this Privacy Policy or by other means. If the Service changes the purpose of use of pseudonymously processed information, it will publish the changed purpose of use, specified as far as possible.

The Service may jointly use personal data that is pseudonymously processed information. The purposes of use, items, scope of joint users, and the party responsible for management with respect to such joint use are as follows.

7. About Cookies

A cookie is a mechanism sent from the Service that records data on your computer. To make the Service more convenient to use, cookies may be used to automatically store information such as your access status and data you have entered in the past on your computer. However, the information acquired cannot be used to identify you personally. You can disable cookies through the settings of your browser or security software. In that case, some services within the Service may not function properly, and you will be subject to restrictions in making use of the Service.

In addition, in order to understand the usage status of the websites that provide the Service, we use personalized (targeting) advertising services and other services provided by the companies below. 8. About Access Logs

The Service collects information such as IP addresses, browser types, and referring URLs from access logs. The collected information is used as statistical information for purposes such as analyzing website usage trends, but it is not reflected in personal information. The Service also uses “Google Analytics,” an access analysis tool provided by Google. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect traffic data. This traffic data is collected anonymously and does not identify individuals. You can refuse this collection by disabling cookies, so please check your browser settings. 9. About Registered Information

To prevent information from being lost due to computer failures, human error, and the like, the Service creates backup copies of such information at regular intervals. So that customized information based on your own settings can be displayed each time you use the Service, the Service stores your registered information in an active state in the Service’s member database. When you request the Service to delete your registered information, your registered information will no longer be in an active state. It will then be deleted from the Service’s member database after a certain period. This grace period is provided to prevent you from becoming involved in disadvantages such as fraud. Please note that any information for which the Service has created a backup copy will be retained for a certain period even after you request deletion of your registered information and it is no longer in an active state.

10. Complaints and Various Inquiries

When a User requests disclosure of their own personal information or disclosure of records of provision to third parties, the Service will promptly disclose such information. However, the Service will not comply with disclosure where it cannot confirm that the request is from the individual concerned, or where the Related Laws permit non-disclosure.

When a User requests the correction, addition, deletion, erasure, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties of personal information, the Service will investigate and promptly respond to such requests. However, the Service will not comply with such requests where it cannot confirm that the request is from the individual concerned, or where the requirements under the Related Laws are not met.

Contact” below. Depending on the content of the inquiry, the Service may, before responding, ask the inquirer to confirm that they are the individual who holds the relevant personal information.
