Inviting and Managing Members

Growing and managing members is all done from Team Management. Issuing invitations is available to the owner and members with the invite permission; the other management screens are owner-only.

Inviting members

Open “Invite Members” in Team Management and you will find two tabs: “Direct Invite” and “URL Invite”.

Direct Invite

Invite someone by their user ID. They receive a notification and an email.

Direct Invite tab

  1. Enter the person’s ID in “User ID”. They can copy their ID from the “ID:” line on their profile
  2. Tap “Check” to preview their profile and make sure it is the right person
  3. Tap “Invite” to send the invitation

Sent invitations appear in the list below as “Pending”. When the person accepts, the status changes to “Used”. “Revoke” cancels an invitation that has not been used yet.

URL Invite

Issue an invitation link and hand it to the person through chat or a messaging app.

URL Invite tab

Tap “Issue Invite URL” to issue a link — it is copied to your clipboard at the same time. You can copy it again later with “Copy URL”.

Issue one invite URL per person. URLs expire automatically 24 hours after they are issued, and become unusable once one person uses them.

Accepts and declines may take a moment to appear. Use “Update” at the top right to refresh the list.

Approving join requests

Community teams receive requests from users who want to join. Review them in “Join Requests” under Team Management and tap “Approve” or “Decline”.

In both cases you can attach an optional message to the person. Approving makes them a member right away and sends them a notification.

Setting member permissions

In “Member Management” under Team Management, you can set three permissions per member. All are off by default.

Member permissions

PermissionDescription
Team-named postsCan create posts in the team’s name
Issue invitationsCan issue and cancel invitations on the member invitation page
Delete member postsAs a moderator, can delete any member post including the owner’s. Editing is not possible

Flipping a switch shows “You have unsaved changes” at the top. Changes are not saved until you tap “Update” at the bottom.

Banning members

Use “Ban” to remove a problematic member from the team. Banned users can no longer rejoin this team.

Banned users appear in the “Banned” tab. “Unban” makes rejoining possible again. Unbanning does not restore membership — they need an invitation or a join request to participate again.
