Creating a Team and Changing Its Settings

Creating a team takes just a few steps. The person who creates a team becomes its owner and can manage members and visibility settings.

Creating a team

Tap “Create a team” in the “My teams” section of your account page to open the creation form.

FieldDescription
Team image / background imageOptional. Images that represent your team
Team NameRequired. Up to 50 characters
Visibility modeChoose “Community” or “Private”
Team ProfileOptional. Up to 1000 characters. Describe your activities, join requirements, and so on

Tap either visibility mode button to see its description below.

Private selected

When you are done, tap “Create” at the bottom. Once the team is created you are automatically switched to it and its home screen opens.

You can create up to 5 teams per account. If you have reached the limit, a notice appears above the form and you cannot create a new team.

Opening Team Management

Tap “Team Management” on the team home screen to open the management menu.

Owners see the following items.

Disband teamDelete the team

Members see “Invite Members” (if they have the invite permission) and “Leave Team”.

Editing the team profile

Tap “Edit Profile” on the team home screen to change the team name, profile, team image, and background image. Only the owner can edit them.

Editing the team profile

Tap “Update” when you are done. The “Public Profile” button lets you check how the team looks to users outside it.

The visibility mode is not changed on this screen. Follow the notice and use “Change Team Type” in Team Management instead.

Changing the team type

In “Change Team Type” under Team Management, switch between Community and Private and tap “Save publish settings”.

Changing the team type

Be careful when switching from Private to Community: the team will be listed publicly and team/member posts will become visible to users outside the team. Members will be notified of the change.

Disbanding a team

To close a team, the owner uses “Disband team” in Team Management.

Disband screen

Disbanding makes the team’s profile, member roster, and other information inaccessible, and the data is permanently deleted after a certain period. A disbanded team and its data cannot be restored.

Tap “Confirm disbanding” to open the confirmation. Check “I understand the team and its data cannot be restored.” and tap “Disband” to complete it.

Note that owners cannot leave their own team — disbanding is the only way for an owner to give up a team. For how members leave, see Joining and Leaving a Team.
